Subject librarian responsibilities :
  1. Develop the library collection and coordinate the resources for Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering and ensure that they meet the requirements of the various courses and research interests of the school of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE).
     
  2. Conduct instructional workshops on literature searching and information resources in the subject area. Create awareness and equip users to use the various library resources efficiently.
     
  3. Provide consultation, reference and advisory services on information searching and resources to support research and learning activities especially for final year projects, theses and research papers.
     
  4. Act as liaison person for MAE. Meet, network and help users with library resources. Serve as a one-stop contact person on matters related to library resources for MAE.
     

Operational Responsibilities :

  1. Responsible for conducting and coordinating information literacy programs. Equip library users with the skills to locate, evaluate, and use information from the library effectively.
     
  2. Help to maintain library instructional facilities and equipment so that instructional sessions run without technical glitches.
     
  3. Equip users in the use of bibliographic management software. Helps users to focus on their research by managing & organising their citations and references effectively.
     
  4. Provide technical support, consultation and roll out new version releases for EndNote. Assist and help users with software installation, configuration and support.
     

Work Experience :

After a stint as a project engineer in the air-conditioning industry, Rama worked as an IT Consultant in the US. He moved to Singapore in 2001 and his interest in information access and digital divide landed him on a project to initiate web accessibility guidelines and standards in Singapore where he conducted a Web accessibility Audit on the Ministry of Community Youth and Sports (MCYS) website. Rama completed his MSc (Info Studies) from NTU in 2007 and joined NTU library the same year as a Librarian (Instructional Services) & Engineering Librarian (Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering).
