About Myself :
I knew I should be a librarian during my first year of study at NUS. One of my history lecturers saw it fit to “subject” all of us who took his course on the Modern history of the Middle East and Africa to a library lecture and tutorial.
The librarian spoke about abstracts, indexes, catalogues, microfilms and classification systems. I never enjoyed a lecture so much even though half my class was already dozing off.
I went to Melbourne to pursue a Master in Business Information Technology (Information Management) from RMIT University. (okay, a fairly high-tech name for a course in library studies).
Many friends thought I was crazy because I spent my savings and two years of my life doing this course. But I enjoyed myself thoroughly. Two years was a good pace for me to learn what i wanted to learn, play and make friends at the same time. I also liked the Melbourne weather ... so unpredictable, quite the opposite of Singapore. For the first time in my life I realized why the weather forecast was so important. (^_^).
One of the most memorable things I experienced was seeing the changes in the trees along the path I took almost daily to school when seasons change. I felt the passage of time and marveled at the wonder of nature.
I joined the NTU library in Jun 2006 and look forward to growing and learning together with the library and the university.
I have varied interests and I like to learn new things.
At the moment, my pet project is my website at http://www.homemade-chinese-soups.com/ It is work in progress. Do visit if you are free and give me feedback. |
