Subject librarian responsibilities :

1. Develop the library collection and coordinate the resources for Electrical and Electronic Engineering so as to meet the information needs of the users.
    
2. Conduct instructional workshops on literature searching and the information resources in subject areas so that users are able to use information resources more proficiently.
    
3. Provide consultation, reference and advisory services on information searching and resources to support research and learning activities.
    
4. Act as liaison person for the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and maintain good relationship with users.
    

Operational Responsibilities :

1. Catalogue print and non-print library materials so that users can find and browse these materials systematically and easily using the library catalogue.
    
2. Contribute authority records to Library of Congress and perform authority control work in order to maintain consistency in the use of headings to facilitate more precise retrieval of catalogue records.
      
3. Manage and monitor bibliographic utilities to produce and maintain high quality catalogue records.
    
4. Assign subject headings for DR NTU records to enable the searching and browsing of DR-NTU items using  subject metadata.
    

Work Experience :

Padma joined NTU Library in January 2006 after receiving her MSc (Information Studies) degree from the School of Communication and Information (SCI), NTU. Prior to that she had worked for about seven years in the Technical Support Helpdesk and another eight years in testing and quality control of computer manufacturing firms.
