Subject librarian responsibilities :

  1. Select library materials for procurement or subscription to make sure users have access to relevant information quickly and easily.  
     
  2. Provide instruction on literature searching and information skills in subject areas to assist users to gain a good understanding of library resources & services.
     
  3. Provide consultation, reference and advisory services on information searching and resources so as to ease and facilitate the user searching process.
     
  4. Act as liaison person for the School of Materials Science & Engineering to facilitate communication between the school and the library.
     

Operational Responsibilities :

  1. Supervise the content recruitment process of the institutional repository (DR-NTU) to ensure that the written intellectual output of university is captured and archived, and then widely disseminated. 
       
  2. Liaise with respective library divisions to facilitate and expedite content deposit in the institutional repository (DR-NTU).
     
  3. Maintain the communication channel and disseminate news related to Scholarly Communication to raise awareness amongst the university community.
     

Work Experience :

YaLi worked in the information technology industry for more than 8 years. She was a System Engineer in Beijing and a Translation Project Manager with Nokia Singapore. She joined NTU Library in 2010 as a scholarly communication librarian working on co-ordinating the development of DR-NTU to ensure that the written intellectual output of the university is captured, maintained and archived in digital format for retrieval and use.
