My name, Akbar Hakim, translated into English literally means "Great Judge"! I am happily married to my wife, June, and we have two sons of our own - Nazrin and Nazri. They are not twins! The elder, Nazrin, is thirteen going on to fourteen while the younger, Nazri, will turn four this year.
I was awarded a scholarship by NTU [thanks, NTU!] to do my graduate studies at the University of Sheffield in England. I was conferred the M.A.(Librarianship) at the end of my studies there. I have since worked in NTU Library and have been involved mostly with building the accounting and business collection as well as pioneering, developing, coordinating and conducting information literacy and library instructional programmes for staff and students of NTU.
I always have this strong urge to travel, to see the world for what it's worth...it's in my blood. I guess I inherited it from my father, who was a well-known Malay/Muslim novelist, travel writer and noted literary figure in this region. Over the years, June and I have travelled far and wide, and together with our two sons, we aim to travel to many other as yet unchartered destinations around the world.
I love sports and yes...I especially love playing, coaching and watching football a.k.a. soccer.
