What do I need to be aware of before installing EndNote X3?

You must UNINSTALL the earlier version of EndNote and restart your PC before installing the new version.

If you are collaborating with other researchers or project members on a paper, do make sure that your collaborators are also upgrading to the same version. Libraries created or documents formatted in EndNote X3 cannot be used or edited with EndNote X1 or earlier versions.

How do I UNINSTALL EndNote?

Step 1:
From the START menu    go to CONTROL PANEL.

Step 2:
Select Add or Remove Programs.

Step 3:
In the list of currently installed programmes, select EndNote. Click the Remove button.
Note: This will not delete your libraries or any new files you have created.

How do I INSTALL EndNote?

Click here to download and install EndNote in your PC.

Why can't I download EndNote X3?

EndNote is available for NTU staff and students ONLY via Intranet. Please ensure that you have Administrator’s rights for the PC you want to download EndNote to.

When downloading, login using the following:
Username: student\username
Password: your password

How can NIE users download EndNote X3?

When downloading EndNote, NIE users should login using the following:
Username: NIESTUDENT\your_campus_network_id
Password: your_campus_network_password

The campus network ID and password are similar to the one which you use to access NIE Teacher portal.

If you encounter any problems in downloading EndNote, please call 6790-3631 or 6790-3623 (for NIE users).

Do I need to upgrade to version X3 if I already have version X1?

Depending on your needs you may wish to consider upgrading to EndNote X3. Since this new version has a few improved features and is FREE, we suggest users upgrade to EndNote X3.

What will happen to my version X1 library when I upgrade to EndNote X3?

Libraries will be converted into EndNote X3 format automatically.

I don’t know how to use EndNote. Where can I get help to get started?

Option 1: Attend Endnote Workshops.

Where can I get the NTU-SBS Style file?

You will have to copy the Style File into the EndNote Styles folder in your PC.

For Windows users, copy the file into - C:\Program Files\EndNote\Styles

For Mac users, copy the file into - Harddrive: Applications: EndNote: Styles

Why can’t I do an Online Search of the NTU Library Catalogue in EndNote itself?

You might be missing the correct NTU Library Catalogue Connection File to perform the search.

You may have missed out installing the required filters during Custom Installation. Please click here for details on how to rectify this problem.

I can’t find the reference style that is required by my school.

You may have missed out installing the required styles during Custom Installation. Please click here for details on how to rectify this problem.
