EndNote is a bibliography management software that NTU Library has purchased to support the research needs of NTU staff and students.

With EndNote, you can:

a.  Create a personalised bibliographic database by exporting or importing references from electronic databases or Library Catalogues.

b.  Cite sources while writing your papers and instantly generate and format your citations with your choice of citation styles.

c.  Create a bibliography or a list of references for your paper, thesis or final year project.

The EndNote programme is strictly for use by staff and students of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National Institute of Education (NIE) only.

To ensure successful installation of EndNote, please note that you have to:

a) Unzip the downloaded files. Click on ENX4Inst.msi from the unzipped folder to start installation.

    Get steps to unzip the folder.

b) Custom installation is essential if you want to download documents from databases and copy records from NTU Library Catalogue.

Step 1:  From the START menu, go to CONTROL PANEL.

Step 2:  Select "Add or Remove Programs".

Step 3:  In the list of currently installed programmes, select EndNote. Click the "Remove" button.

Note: The uninstalling process will not delete your EndNote libraries or any new libraries you have created. However you are advised to make a copy or back up of your EndNote libraries, customised style files and customised import filters.
    

Yes. The EndNote programme can be downloaded and used by staff and students of NIE.

When downloading EndNote, NIE users should use the same campus network ID and password to login to NIE Teacher Portal. Example of the format to login is as follows:

There is no need to enter the product or license key for EndNote during the installation process.  Prompts for product key or installation of trial version happen when the zipped folder that has been downloaded has not been unzipped before starting the installation process.

To rectify this issue, please uninstall EndNote and restart your computer. Then, follow the steps to unzip folder. Please remember to click on the ENX4Inst.msi from the unzipped folder to start installation.

Please use Internet Explorer (IE) while downloading the EndNote Windows version. Using other Internet browsers like Firefox or Google Chrome might also result in this problem.

There have been occasions when installing EndNote X4, the installation hangs at the point of “Installing Export Helper” as shown in the screen shot below.

The solution to this problem requires a new and huge installation package. The instructions to install this new package is also complex, hence, please get in touch with Instructional Services Division to make an appointment so that  we can personally assist you in rectifying the problem.
