    Senior Librarian, Digital Scholarship

    We invite applications for the position of Senior Librarian/Manager in our Digital Scholarship team in the Office of Information, Knowledge and Library Services (OIKLS). We develop and support teaching and research initiatives involving the use of digital humanities and data visualisation tools. The successful candidate will be evaluating and implementing a range of text mining techniques, GIS tools and platforms such as Omeka. The candidate should possess a deep passion and strong technical skills to keep abreast of new trends in digital scholarship with the goal of effectively engaging all types of users – from students doing Final Year Projects to NTU researchers on the use of digital tools for research and collaborating in research grant applications.

    Key responsibilities:
    • Develop a series of digital scholarship resources and tools for researchers and students
    • Engage, collaborate and provide consultation on creating digital projects with faculty
    • Leverage platforms such as Omeka to curate, capture and showcase the knowledge and expertise of our users in digital humanities/ scholarship
    • Provide training, technical support and consultation to students and researchers on use of digital humanities/scholarship tools for areas such as text mining
    • Explore and recommend new ways to present and tell stories with data - digital mapping/GIS tools, infographics, data analysis and visualization tools

    Qualifications:
    • MSc in Information Studies or Computer Science
    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Information Technology, Information Systems or Computer Science
    • 2-3 years professional working experience in libraries or research centres preferred
    • Good interpersonal skills and able to relate well with colleagues, students and faculty
    • Able to work independently as well as in a team
    • Possess initiative to independently learn new knowledge and skills, especially in the areas of digital humanities, IT gadgets and emerging technologies, social media tools and open source platforms
    • Able to change, adapt, learn and thrive in rapidly changing environments
