    Librarian, Research Data Management

    We invite applications for the position of Librarian in our Research Data Management team in the Office of Information, Knowledge and Library Services (OIKLS), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). We are looking for a meticulous and collaborative individual with excellent communication skills who is passionate about the opportunity to support researchers from diverse disciplines in research data management. Such services may include instruction, consultations, and partnerships with faculty, researchers and other librarians on data management plans, data archiving, data sharing, data management tools and strategies, and metadata standards. The successful candidate will need to develop a robust understanding of research data management best practices as well as institutional, funding agencies and publishers’ requirements and options. This is critical knowledge to build and apply in the delivery of services. This position will report to the Team Lead of Research Data Management in NTU Library. This is a 2-year contract position (subject to renewal).

    Key responsibilities:

    The successful candidate will:

    • Actively monitor activities in the NTU research data repository and follow-up with data depositors to provide advice that will help them achieve maximum benefits of responsible data sharing while meeting funding agencies, publishers and institutional requirements
    • Respond to enquiries related to data management planning, archiving and sharing
    • Collaborate with subject specific experts to integrate data management best practices across disciplines and translate them in instruction, online self-helps, FAQs, etc.
    • Consult international best practices and available DMP data when providing data management planning education, guidance and templates
    • Assist RDM Team in the delivery of workshops, organising symposiums/seminars/talks/roadshows, and providing online self-helps to promote good research data management best practices, responsible data sharing and open science, in collaboration with other RDM Team members, Library colleagues, etc.


    • MSc (Information Studies), MLIS or equivalent degree
    • Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline
    • At least 1 year working experience in an academic library or research setting, with exposure to scholarly communication
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals and teams
    • Ability to learn new skills and technologies

    Assistant Manager, Medical Library (1 year contract)

    Provide managerial support to the Medical Library & Heritage Centre operations aligned to the needs and objectives of the School. This would include the management of information and reference services through promotion, instruction, research and scholarly communication services and as well as collaborative engagement to support the teaching, learning and research activities of the LKCMedicine community.


    Medical Library & Heritage Centre Operations

    • Manages all aspects of the daily operations of the Medical Library and Heritage Centre, which includes supervising the executives
    • This includes Service Desk duties, facilities management and providing budget monitoring assistance for library and heritage centre

    Collection Development of Medical Library & Heritage Centre

    • Support the Director in planning and developing library and heritage centre collections, in print and electronic resources including acquiring of resources and managing the assigned material budget
    • Organize and manage the physical and electronic collections so users are provided with relevant and critical resources to support their learning, research and teaching
    • Negotiate with publishers for price discounts and better packages for content purchases to ensure best utilization of the assigned budget

    Management of Information Services

    • Provide search services through usage of library and other resources to meet teaching, research and learning needs
    • Conducts user instruction sessions and capitalizes various media platforms to promote information literacy, scholarly communications and academic integrity
    • Oversees the preparation of H-Index reports and continuously improve and innovate on the processes for increased effectiveness and efficiency

    External or Associate Memberships & Partnerships Services

    • Provide administrative support and library services to external or Associate members (part-time clinical teachers and researchers) and institutional partners
    • Work with Director to implement collaborative agreements with other healthcare organizations by providing our library services to their organization


    • Applicants should have a good bachelor’s degree preferably in Library Information Science or equivalent. A Master of Science/Arts degree in library and information science will be an advantage
    • Have at least 3 years work experience in a library or information management organization. Prior experience in an academic library or health institution will be an advantage
    • Must be user or service oriented
    • Proficient in the use of technology and social media
    • Good problem-solving, planning and organizing skills
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
