NTU Hosts!
Welcoming international students

NTU Hosts is an exciting programme that promotes cultural exchange and friendship across borders. Through it, faculty and staff members befriend and help international students feel welcome in Singapore. The programme is also an excellent avenue for international students to make new friends and learn more about NTU and Singapore.

Roles of NTU Hosts

You will host/ befriend international students over a semester and help them feel welcome in Singapore.

You might wish to have about two meetings with your student(s) during the semester. Activities and gatherings could be simple but meaningful. Here are some ideas:

-- include your student in a festive celebration at home (for e.g., Christmas, Deepavali, Hari Raya, etc.)
-- invite your student to have a home-cooked meal with your family
-- take your student on a tour of an HDB estate and have a simple meal of roti prata and teh tarik at a kopitiam
-- teach your student how to prepare a local dish/ dessert
-- watch a 'live' S.League soccer match with your student (tickets to some matches are available at ISC)

We recommend you confine your activities to Singapore.

As the programme is not a homestay programme, your student(s) will not stay at your home.

You need not mentor your student in his or her studies nor assist with non-academic matters such as housing and immigration arrangements. Please advise your student to contact ISC (Email: isc@ntu.edu.sg; tel: 6790 6823) for any assistance.

Eligibility
Faculty/ professional and admin staff members (senior officers) are invited to register as hosts. Staff members need not be Singaporeans/ Singapore PRs.

Matching
ISC will match each host with one to three students or as requested. Once matched, ISC will forward students' contact details to hosts.
