    1) How much do I need to pay to see a counsellor at the Student Counselling Centre?

    There is no charge.

    2) How do I make an appointment to see a counsellor at the SCC?

    3) How do I know I need counselling?

    If the personal issues or challenges you are facing are affecting your quality of life in the areas of your health, relationships, daily activities, academic performance or eating and sleeping patterns, it is recommended that you seek professional counselling.     Group Hospitalisation and Surgical Insurance

    1) When does my coverage start?

    Your coverage will start on 1 August or upon your matriculation at NTU, whichever is later.

    2) What does the insurance cover?

    The insurance covers mainly medical expenses incurred for hospitalisation and/or surgery due to illness or accident up to $20,000 per year. Please refer to the table of benefits.

    3) Are outpatient services covered?

    GP outpatient services (e.g., for flu and fever) are not covered. Treatment by a specialist (including diagnostic tests like x-rays or scans) or A& E department (for accidents and emergencies only) in a Singapore government/ restructured hospital is covered up to $300 per year. The specialist must be referred by the NTU Medical Centre or the A&E department of a government/ restructured hospital. Please refer to the table of benefits at this website.

    4) Is outpatient treatment after an accident covered?

    Yes, if you seek treatment at a clinic or hospital within 48 hours of the accident. Follow-up treatment is covered up to $300 and within 60 days from the date of initial treatment.

    5) Is dental treatment covered?

    No. Dental treatment is not covered unless for treatment after an accident.

    6) I am on the GHSI. Am I covered when I return to my home country or travel during the vacation?

    Yes, you will be covered as long as you are a full-time student of NTU. Medical expenses incurred will be covered up to the reasonable and customary cost of treatment in a B1 ward in Singapore General Hospital.

    7) Are pre-existing conditions covered?

    Yes, pre-existing conditions are covered once you are insured under the GHSI.

    8) What should I do if I need to be hospitalised and/or have surgery?

    Please request a Letter of Guarantee (LOG) and submit the Letter of Indemnity (LOI). The LOG will be issued only for covered medical conditions. Ensure that you have sufficient funds for hospitalisation and/or surgery if your condition is not covered.

    9) Do I pay the medical bill if an LOG had been issued?

    If an LOG had been issued, the hospital will bill the insurer directly. For GP, specialist or A&E outpatient visits, you will need to pay first then seek reimbursement thereafter.

    10) What do I need to do after my discharge from hospital?

    Please make a claim within 30 days of your discharge from hospital.
