Ultra cold matter is one of the most exciting fields of research in atomic physics. The pioneering work in the development of laser cooling techniques in the late 1980s made it possible to cool atoms to temperatures of the order of micro Kelvin. And even further to the Nano Kelvin region using the method of evaporative cooling. These atoms are well isolated from the environment they are dominantly subject to the potentials applied and interactions among themselves. Therefore cold atomic gases allow a clean and controlled observation of many physical phenomena not only limited to atomic physics. These experimental and theoretical investigations have opened a broad range of possible applications. This workshop gives an overview of current "hot" topics in the research with ultra cold matter.
