Research Interests:

Text Mining, Natural Language Processing, and Semantic Web.

About me:

I am a PH.D student at the school of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University. My supervisor is Dr. Tan Ah-Hwee, associate professor of the Nanyang Technological University.

My research topic is "Domain modelling and User modelling for personalized information service". Specificially, i want to utilize the semantic structure in the ontology for providing service.

My first step is to develop an ontology learning system, which can utilize the possible information in the documents for domain modelling and is the basis of my future work. We have developed the CRCTOL system for learning domain ontology from text documents. The CRCTOL system is proved to be better than some typical ontology learning systems in our experiments and paper about the system has been accepted by ICDM2005.

Right now, i am working on the second stage of my work, utilizing the existing semantic structure in the domain ontology to provide personalized services. I try to adopt some existing theories in the field of cognitive science for this purpose. For instance, i try to use Dr. John R. Anderson's spreading-activation theory to model user's information requirement. The initial result is good. But I have to do more experiments.
