Victor W. Chu is a senior research engineer at the SPIRIT Centre of the Nanyang Technological University providing solutions to smart nation initiatives by advanced technologies. He was previously employed by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Australia, where he completed an infrastructure failure prediction enhancement project.

Victor's research interest is hybrid intelligence for data mining specializing in spatio-temporal, financial, social media, and service computing problems.  He has been a journal reviewer for IEEE Transactions of Service Computing, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Systems Architecture, Information Systems Frontiers, and Electronic Commerce Research and Applications. He has also served in the program committees of various conferences in artificial intelligence, big data and service computing in recent time, such as AAAI, IEEE SCC, IEEE ICWS, IEEE Big Data (Congress) and HICSS. He is a member of the organizing committee of Advanced Data Mining and Applications (ADMA) Conference in 2017.

Victor had been an IT consultant prior to his R&D endeavour. His past engagements involved establishing project management office and IT strategy for a SaaS-based system provider, etc. In the past, Victor had been working in financial industry across a variety of positions, such as Head of IT, project manager and senior business analyst, etc.
