PhD Scholarship
s are available for suitably qualified candidates to carry out doctoral (PhD) research in the area of computational mechanics (FEM, meshless methods, Hybrid FE-Meshfree methods ... etc) applied to large deformation and vibration problems.

Admission intake: Aug 2009

Application deadline: 31 Jan 2009

Admission requirements:
    1) A good Master's degree in Engineering/Technology with an appropriate specialisation.
    2) A good GRE score (or, a GATE score > 90 for students from India).
    3) A good TOEFL or IELTS score.
Bond free research scholarship: S$2,000 per month before confirmation of candidature. S$2,500 per month after confirmation of candidature. As a PhD research student, you will be required to assist teaching/lab activities.

Scope and nature of PhD research training: Learning the theory of finite element method and meshless methods; Development new finite elements and meshless methods; Programming of new methods in Fortran, Matlab, Maple and Mathematica environments; Application of the concepts of computational linear algebra in solving mechanics related problems; Using commercial finite element software (ANSYS and ABAQUS) for programme validation and benchmarking.
