1. Academic history

§         "Study of X-ray topography and Dislocation Dynamics using Synchrotron Radiation Source", School of Physics & Space Science, University of Birmingham, Daresbury Laboratory, 1988.

§         "Electron and Ion Beam Lithography", Microelectronics Research Centre, Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge, 1991.

§         "Magnetism and Magnetoelastic Sputter-Deposited Thin Films", School of Physics, University of Bath, University Sheffield, 1993.

§         "Senior MEMS Fabricator ", Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, University of Sheffield, 1995.

§         "Lecturer in MEMS and Materials Engineering", Micro-Machines Centre, NTU, from 1999.

2. Consultation

Short Courses provided in all areas of MEMS and Thin Film Fabrication. General consultation provided in the area of thin films, MEMS, and metal nano-powders.

3. Research Interest

MEMS, Bio-MEMS, Thin Film Technology, Remote Actuation, Nano-particles, sintering.

Good students (local or international) required for post-graduate study (PhD). I have four possible areas of interest:

1.       Development of thin film magnetometer and study of magnetic thin films in MEMS

2.     Development of Sintering to be used in MEMS

3.     Study of thin Polymer Films for Sensor & Actuator Applications

4.     Bio-MEMS

At the moment I have no scholarships to offer. Click here for details on graduate studies.

4. Awards

Excellence in Teaching Award for 2004. Nominated for 2008.

5. Final Year Projects

6. Hobbies

Jujitsu (Brown Belt), distance running (6 km), and weight-training.

Also an Underwater Photographer (PADI Dive Master). Favorite location was Lembeh Strait, Indonesia and Tioman Island, Malaysia. Have also tried skydiving (small movie) but I’m not a big fan!
