About Me:

I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. I am also associated with the Parallel and Distributed Computing Centre (PDCC).

Before coming to Singapore, I was awarded an Irish Research Council Fellowship to conduct research at IBM Research, Ireland. My research at IBM was focused on simulations for exascale high performance computing systems. The culmination of this project is an article published in ACM Transactions on Modeling and Computer Simulation (TOMACS), which was selected as a “Best of Computing” article in 2014 by ACM Computing Reviews. I was also a Research Fellow of the Performance Engineering Laboratory (PEL), University College Dublin and The Irish Software Engineering Research Centre (Lero).

Previously, I was a Lecturer at the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, where I taught courses in online game development. From 2004 to 2007, I was a Research Associate and a Visiting Lecturer at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, working on a government-funded project called ‘Lucid Platform’, which developed a middleware to support online game development. In 2006, this project received a Silver Award from the China Association of Inventions on the 16th China National Invention Exhibition.

I was awarded a full overseas Ph.D. scholarship and obtained a Ph.D. degree from the University of Birmingham, UK. My Ph.D. thesis is focused on interest management for distributed virtual environments and military simulation systems. This work received the Best Paper Award of the 15th IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Distributed Simulation and Real-Time Applications (DS-RT 2011). I obtained my first degree from the University of Hong Kong.

I am currently looking for outstanding Ph.D. candidates and postdoctoral Research Fellows. If you are interested to work with me, please contact me by email.
