Brief Biography of Dr Danwei WANG

Danwei Wang received his Ph.D and MSE degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1989 and 1984, respectively. He received his B.E degree from the South China University of Technology, China in 1982.

Since 1989, he has been with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Currently, he is a professor, head of the Division of Control and Instrumentation, School of EEE, and deputy director of the Robotics Research Center, NTU. He was a visiting scientist under the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship in the University of Wuppertal, Germany during 1996-1997.

His research interests include fault diagnosis and prognosis for hybrid systems, satellite attitude control and formation flying, robotics, control theory and applications. He publishes in the areas of manipulator/mobile robot dynamics, path planning, robust control, iterative learning control and adaptive control of such systems and position/force control systems, satellite formation flying and fault detection and isolation. As of July 200, Scientific Citation Index (SCI) search shows that citations to his papers amount to 1000+.

Dr. Wang is a senior member of IEEE and has served as Chairman, Treasurer and member in the Control Chapter, and Robotics and Automation Chapter, IEEE Singapore Section. He is an associate editor of IEEE Control Systems Society's Conference Editorial Board. He is also an associate editor of the International Journal of Humanoid Robotics.

Dr Wang has served as General Chairman, Technical Chairman, and various positions in the organizing committees of several international conferences, ICARCV2004, 2002, 2000, 1998, 1996, 1994, 1992 (International Conference on Control, Automation, Robotics and Vision), ACCV’95 (1995 Asian Conference on Computer Vision), SICICI’92 (1992 IEEE Singapore International Conference on Intelligent Control and Instrumentation), 2004 IEEE RAM (2004 IEEE International Conference on Robotics, Automation and Mechatronics). He has served in the International Program Committees for IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, IROS03, IROS04, IROS05, IROS06, (as a Technical Co-Chair), IROS08, IROS10 and IEEE International conference on Robotics and Automation, ICRA05.
