Research,
Teaching and Professional Services
Dr. Lim’s core research areas focus on
developing innovative treatment technologies for water pollution controls and
studying chemodynamics of pollutants in natural and engineered environmental
systems. Most recently, he has been working on developing nanomaterials to be
used in advanced oxidation processes for micropollutant removal in water treatment
and wastewater treatment for reuse. His research approach is aimed toward both innovative applications of environmental
technologies and fundamental understanding of contaminant fate in the
environmental systems.
Over the last ten years with NTU, Dr. Lim has
been teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in NTU or as a guest lecturer
abroad. Courses taught or co-taught are:
He provides expert
services in the fields of environmental site assessment and hazardous waste
site rehabilitation for local agencies or firms. His contract researches include waste reuse,
environmental monitoring of contaminant movement, environmental remediation,
etc. He is also engaged by local
authorities or organizations to provide independent third
party review for several environmental research projects. He also conducts training courses to
professionals working in the field of pollution control.
Besides teaching, research and providing
professional services, Dr. Lim has been actively organizing
international conferences, chairing technical sessions, and serving as an
active reviewer for numerous journals in environmental science. He is a member of the International Water
Association and the chairman of the 3rd IWA Young Researcher Conference,
2006.
