CHAM Tat Jen. http://www.ntu.edu.sg/home/astjcham. Tat Jen obtained his BA in Engineering (triple first class honours) in 1993 and his PhD in 1996 from the University of Cambridge. He was subsequently awarded a prestigious Jesus College Research Fellowship 1996-97, before joining DEC/Compaq Research Labs in Boston as a research scientist 1998-2001, where his experience included technology transfer to product groups and showcasing research work to Hollywood studios. An Associate Professor in NTU since late 2001, he was concurrently a Faculty Fellow in the Singapore-MIT Alliance Computer Science Program in 2003-2006. In computer vision research, Tat Jen has made key contributions to object matching and registration, as well as human tracking and analysis in video. In the area of sentient environments, he is working on groundbreaking systems that synergistically combine projectors and cameras to turn all surfaces into ubiquitous interactive displays. Tat Jen's papers have been cited over 500 times, receiving overall best paper prizes at PROCAMS’05, BMVC’94, and in particular at ECCV'96 (now the Longuet-Higgins prize). A recipient of over S$1.5M in research grant funding since 2002, Tat Jen is also an inventor on 8 patents and filings. He is on the editorial board for IJCV and an Area Chair for ICCV’05, the top journal and conference in his field respectively, and has been invited to many other technical program committees and expert panels.
