Profile

Arvind Rajendran is an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He obtained his Doctor of Technical Sciences (PhD) from the group of Prof. Marco Mazzotti at the Institute of Process Engineering, ETH Zurich. Prior to his PhD studies, he obtained a Master's degree from the National University of Singapore, where he worked on gas separations. During his Master's studies he spent 6 months as a short term scholar at the University of Maine, USA. He found his interest in chemical engineering during his undergraduate studies at Annamalai University, India. Arvind's research interests are in adsorption and chromatography. His focus is on using supercritical fluids as eluents for  large scale chromatographic separations, such as the simulated moving bed (SMB) and preparative chromatography, applied to the separation of pharmaceutically active enantiomers. His interests and specializations include  adsorption of supercritical fluids, swelling of polymers in supercritical media and gas separation using rapid pressure swing adsorption (PSA) processes. He is hooked on music, movies and travel.
