 Positions Available

Two (2) research positions leading to PhD degree are presently available in Professor Zhou’s group in any of the following research areas:

  1. Processing (welding, diffusion bonding, casting etc) and mechanical properties (fracture, fatigue, etc) of titanium alloys, ultralight magnesium alloys, ultrahigh strength armour steels or superalloys. 
  2. Corrosion and wear of aluminium alloys and magnesium alloys.
  3. Reliability of electronic packaging using lead-free solders
  4. Nanostructured surface pattern formation through self-assembly under energetic focused ion beam (FIB)
  5. Femtosecond laser processing of light alloys, superalloys and semiconductor materials

 

Requirements:

1.      The eligible candidates are expected to have a first-class or second-class upper Bachelor degree in chemistry, physics, materials science or a related area and/or a Master degree by research from a reputable university.

2.      Applicants from India are required to submit GATE score

3.      If the candidate does not have a TOFEL or GRE score, an English proficiency test and a technical test may be arranged together with an interview.

A*Star Graduate Scholarship of up to S$3000 per month is available for qualified Singapore citizen or PR.
