About me

I studied at Balliol College, Oxford University, from 1989 to 1993, graduating with honours in Engineering Science. I went on to the Bioengineering Unit of Strathclyde University, in Glasgow, where I studied from 1993 to 1996 under the supervision of Dr. John Gaylor, graduating with a Ph.D. in Bioengineering. (Ph.D. title: Performance Characterisation of Membrane Oxygenators).

I joined NTU in 1999 after a 2 year stint at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, Singapore, working on fracture fixation devices and prosthetics.

My current research includes artificial organs, bioreactors for tissue engineering, mechanobiology of oesophageal cells, and evaluation of repair of soft tissues in the joints. For more, click here.

I am currently secretary of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Singapore Branch.
