Sports Awards

Objectives

  • To encourage excellence in sports;

  • To recognize high standards of performance displayed during Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic Games (IVP), Singapore University Games (SUniG), tertiary invitational, national and regional competitions;

  • To promote exemplary conduct and good sportsmanship

     

Eligibility

Students are eligible to be nominated by their respective sports officers when they are in their final year of study.  

 

University Blue Award

Recipient must have represented Singapore in international or regional major Games such as the Olympics, Asian/Commonwealth/SEA Games or Championships with medal placing, and achieved:

Represented NTU in IVP, SUniG, tertiary invitational and/or national leagues/championships with top 2 placing consistently; 

Shown outstanding leadership qualities, contribution to sports development in NTU.

 

University Red Award

Recipient must have completed 2 programmes at NTU and represented NTU in sports for at least 5 years;

He/she must have represented NTU for a minimum period of 3 years while pursuing his/her 1st degree and must have obtained a Full Colour Award for that period of representation;

The period of representation while pursuing the 2nd degree/diploma must be for a minimum period of 2 years and the representation and achievement must be at a level equivalent to a 2nd Full Colour. 

 

Full Colours Award

Recipient must have represented NTU regularly, and achieved the following:

  1. Represented NTU in local competition/s yearly (such as IVP, SUniG, tertiary invitational and/or national leagues/championships) with top 2 placing consistently; &

  2. Represented Singapore at international or regional Games/Championships with good achievements; &/or

  3. Met qualification criteria & represented combined university team at World University Games/Championships and/or ASEAN University Games with good achievements. 

 

Half Colours Award

Recipient shall have represented NTU regularly, and achieved the following:

  1. Represented NTU in local competition/s yearly (such as IVP, SUniG, tertiary invitational and/or national leagues/championships) with top 3 placing consistently; &

  2. Represented Singapore at international or regional Games/Championships; &/or

  3. Met qualification criteria & represented combined university team at World University Games/Championships and/or ASEAN University Games.

Merit Award

Recipient shall have represented NTU regularly/yearly in local competition/s (such as IVP, SUniG, tertiary invitational and/or national leagues/championships) with some good standings/results.


SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT

Athletes who have displayed an exceptionally high level of performance at national level competitions (whose sport is not represented at varsity level), for a certain academic year, will be nominated for a special congratulatory award.

SPORTSMAN & SPORTSWOMAN OF THE YEAR

Athletes who have achieved outstanding performances for the year can be nominated by their respective sports officers. In addition, other qualities such as character, ability to lead and contribution to sports in NTU will be taken into consideration.

SPIRIT AWARD FOR COACHES

This award is presented to coaches in recognition of their contribution to the university as co-partners in inculcating team values to our athletes.
