About Shandong
Shandong, with a history of more than 5,000 years, is considered one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization. Shandong has also been the home of a large number of historical figures, whose important influences are still evident in contemporary China. Confucianism, founded by Confucius, the great thinker, educator and statesman in China is the pillar of traditional Chinese culture and has exerted great influence in the world
Programme Highlights
- Attend classes conducted by Shandong University
- Visit QuFu, the home and resting place of the great Sage, Confucius
- Climb Mount Tai Shan and visit other places of interest
- Appreciation of traditional arts and crafts
Financial Matters
The programme is fully sponsored by Hanban (www.hanban.edu.cn). This includes course fees, educational trips, transportation, accommodation and food.
Participants are only required to pay for their own returned air tickets and travel insurance. The estimated cost of the air ticket is about SGD 700.
Basic Requirements
- NTU undergraduates
- With Chinese education of at least 10 years or Chinese ‘O’ level pass.
Selection Criteria
- Priority will be given to Singaporean
- Priority will be given to students that have not participated in GIP Work and Study China
- Priority will be given to current year one undergraduates going to their second year in the coming semester.
- Selection will be based on meritocracy and school recommendation (if necessary)
- Good proportion of students from the 4 NTU colleges, Engineering, Business, Science, and Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. We try to have a good balance of students representing NTU and Singapore.
