The Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival is an annual icon event organised by the Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng Citizens’ Consultative Committee with support from the Singapore Tourism Board, Central Singapore Community Development Council, People’s Association and Chinatown Business Association.
For Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2011, the Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng Citizens’ Consultative Committee will be organising the inaugural Iconic Singapore Lantern Design Competition. This competition is sponsored by SANYO eneloop and Central. The goal is to develop an iconic Singapore lantern that exudes a strong Singapore identity and flavour that can be featured in the Chinatown Mid-Autumn Celebrations and that can represent Singapore at overseas festivals and international events.
The top 3 winners will each receive cash prizes of S$5,000, S$3,000 and S$1,000 respectively. The prize giving ceremony will be held during the Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival Official Opening and Light-up Ceremony on 30 August 2011. Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Mr Teo Chee Hean will grace the event as the Guest of Honour and present the prizes to the winners.
Participation is free-of-charge. Pre-registration by 31 July 2011 is required to confirm your participation. All completed entries must be submitted to Central (6 Eu Tong Sen Street, above Clarke Quay MRT) on 15 August 2011, no later than 5pm Singapore time.
