Biography
-
Y.L. Guan received his Ph.D. degree from the Imperial College of Science,
Technology and Medicine (University of London) in 1997, and B.Eng. degree with 1st class honors
from the National University of Singapore in 1991. In 1991-1994, He worked in Singapore Telecom
and Singapore Technologies as cellular mobile radio system engineer and wireless sensor design
engineer respectively. He is now an Associate Professor with the Division of Communication
Engineering in the School of EEE, Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He is also the Director
of the Positioning and Wireless Technology Center (PWTC) of NTU.
He is the principal investigator of 7 past and present externally funded research projects related
to UWB signal processing, MIMO coding, Turbo decoding and digital watermarking. He has also provided
numerous technical consultancy services to, and conducted technical courses for, the local industry
and statutory boards in Singapore. He has been granted 1 patent and has filed another, both on video
watermarking. He has published a monograph, over 140 journal and conference papers, and 3 book
chapters.
