Incident Reporting 
A primary part of our function is to provide a reliable and trusted campus IT experience. You can report e-mail SPAM, intruder activity, copyright infringment, major virus outbreaks or attacks, etc. to our CIRT (Computer Incident Response Team) which co-ordinates and addresses all IT-related security incidents in NTU.

You are encouraged to send in your incident report to us shortly after the incident or incidents have occurred if possible.

Reporting Incidents from Public

For the public or Internet community, please consult your ISP (Internet Service Provider) like SingNet, StarHub, PacificNet, etc. first on how you can make an incident report. This will allow your ISP to better follow up on your behalf to get in touch with us.

Computer Incidents
Some of the policing and incidents we address include:

  • unauthorised distribution and sharing of copyright materials like movies or music, etc. (copyright infringement)
  • network scanning or data sniffing
  • virus attacks
  • hacking
  • e-mail spoofing, spamming or unauthorised mass mailing
  • use of obscene, distasteful or sexually suggestive languages or content 
  • setting up of unauthorised services or network 
  • intrusion detection
  • network exploits
  • unauthorised network extensions like the use of wireless LAN base stations 
  • passwords cracking or exploits
  • unauthorised resource access

We will attend to all reports filed with us. However please note that our responses to reported incidents will be prioritised on a case by case basis, depending on the impact, urgency and serverity of each case.
