Student Accounts
Each student is issued with the following user accounts:
  1. A network account with username and password for access to the Internet, electronic mailing services, e-learning portal edveNTUre, personal portal myNTU, web-based StudentLink (for undergraduates) or GSLink (for postgraduates) services, and certain e-services in the University portal (http://www.ntu.edu.sg/).  StudentLink and GSLink services are e-services for students such as update of personal particulars, course registration, checking of examination seating arrangement and results.

Each student is allocated 100MB for email storage, 10MB for webpage storage and 200MB for MySite storage.

Each new student can choose his username from three pre-assigned names given in the online form for acceptance of offer. The initial password is set to the matriculation number (with all alphabets in upper-case) of the student. The network account is activated 1 working day after the selection of network account username online. New students who have not chosen their username may click on the following URL to do so:
    Undergraduate students: https://wis.ntu.edu.sg/pls/webexe/account_creation.logon
    Graduate students: https://wis.ntu.edu.sg/pls/webexe/account_creation.logon1

A new student must change his password within 7 days after the issue of the account. Failure to do so will result in account suspension.  This measure is necessary to safeguard the security of the new account.  Suspended account will only be re-activated upon re-registration by the student at the CITS (Centre for IT Services) Service Counter at the Academic Cluster, Block N2.1, level B1 during office hours. Subsequently, the password must be changed every 180 days.

  2. A StudentLink or GSLink account with ID and PIN. This is used only for access to certain web-based StudentLink services: checking of examination results. Most web-based StudentLink services require only the network account username and password to access.

The StudentLink/GSLink account ID is the student's matriculation/registration number.

The initial StudentLINK/GSLink PIN is set to the student's date of birth in DDMMYYYY format.  Students are advised to change the PIN within 7 days after the start of the new semester. The PIN can be changed only through the web-based StudentLink/GSLink service (from StudentLink >> IT Services >> Change PIN or via this application https://wis.ntu.edu.sg/webexe/owa/p$student_change_pin.p$changepassword). The PIN must be between 8 to 14 digits long.  By providing 2 challenge phrases once, the student can reset his own StudentLink/GSLink PIN if he forgets his PIN in future by giving the correct answer to the challenge phrases.

Issuance of Accounts

Please note that no separate letters will be issued to inform new students on their new user accounts. The user accounts are usually ready for use 1 working day after the selection of network account username online. However you will be able to use only the email service. Access to other services such as StudentLink/GSLink will be available only after you have matriculated online.
