Setting Up WLAN in Windows XP SP2 (Secured WPA)
Pre-requisite:

Wireless LAN adapter must support WPA. Please refer to respective manufacturer.

Prior to this setup attempt, user system has been known to be authenticated successfully with NTU domain via LAN network. A user profile is created automatically upon successful authentication via LAN.
Advantages:
- Wireless traffic is encrypted and is more secured compared to that of Open web-authentication (i.e. SSID: NTUWL). Strong encryption (AES) is used to ensure high data security in network traffic over the air.
- User will need to login once to his/her system without the needs to re-enter credential to access Internet.
- User systems will be able to roam and join the NTU wireless network automatically whenever his/her systems are in the wireless coverage range without the hassle of manual re-login.
Setting Up:

Click on Start button
and select

. Type in
services.msc as shown below.

The menu
is opened as shown below. Ensure the
Wireless Zero Configuration status is
Started and Startup Type is
Automatic as shown below.

If the Status and Startup Type are different from the highlighted above, double-click the Wireless Zero Configuration.

Close the menu
by clicking

Open the Control Panel as the following. Click
Network Connections icon.

Right click the highlighted
Wireless Network Connection and click Properties

The Wireless Network Connection Properties pop-up is displayed as the following.

Select tab

Enter network name (SSID) NTUSECURE in uppercase. Select Network Authentication WPA and Data encryption AES.

Click tab
to proceed.

Select EAP type Protected EAP (PEAP)

Click
to proceed.

The profile NTUSECURE is displayed as the following.

Click
to proceed to close the Wireless Network Connection Properties pop-up windows.
