Roaming in NTU for IHL Visitors (EDUWIN) 
Project EDUWIN enables NTU visiting students and staffs of 8 institutions
to make use of NTU wireless LAN for remote access to institutions and
Internet with ease. Also, NTU visitors can enjoy this facility in NTU One-North campus. 

Hotspots in NTU 
Visiting NTU, you will find the freedom of wireless roaming in all academic locations, canteens, cafes, restaurant around our campus. You are no longer limited to work or enjoy in pre-defined hotspots. NTUwireless is a 802.11a/b/g or Wi-Fi standard based network. Setting Up EDUWIN in Windows XP SP2 (for IHL Visitors)



In Windows XP SP2 (Service Pack 2), most of the popular wireless LAN cards like ORiNOCO should be true plug-and-play out of the box. To get started:

  1. Go to a location on campus where NTUwireless is available. To find out where click here

  2. Once your card is working in Windows XP, double click on the Wireless Network Connection  icon on your system tray

  3. Next click on Change advanced settings




  4. Check on  Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings and choose  under Preferred Networks




  5. Refer to the settings below for the configuration (please note that the Network Name or SSID is EDUWIN in uppercase):



    Click on OK to proceed.

  6. The EDUWIN profile will be created as shown in the following.



    Click on OK as needed to close all dialog boxes.

  7. If your configuration is correctly set, you'll see the following display:



     
  8. To check the status and quality of your wireless connection, double-click on the Wireless Network Connection  icon on your system tray again. Connection speed of 11.0Mbps or 5.5Mbps indicates a good wireless connection on NTUwireless.



  9. After you're successfully associated, simply launch your VPN (Virtual Private Network) to connect back to your institute's home/campus network to access your local e-Services or the Internet.



    If you need help, please contact your home institution for first level troubleshooting.

    For faster resolution, do have the following information readily available

    • Which Institution you are roaming from?
    • Where is the location of the hotspot that is in question?
    • Are you able to associate (obtain radio signals) to the hotspot?
    • Nature of the problem. (example: unable to authenticate, error messages)

    As IHL guest user of this network, please:

    • Comply with intended use of the network
    • Do not violate the intended use of the network
    • Do install a reputable anti-virus software on your computer
    • Do patch and update your computer security fixes regularly and keep your anti-virus software updated
