Similar to Windows Vista, most of the popular built-in wireless LAN cards eg. Intel Proset are true plug-and-play out of the box in Windows XP SP2.
To get started:

Go to a location on campus where NTUwireless is available. To find out where click
here

Check that the Wireless Network Connection icon is present below. This indicates the wireless card is recognised correctly by Windows. You may do this by Launching Start> Connect To> Show All connections.

Double click on the Wireless Network Connection icon (from above) and click on Change advanced settings.

Check on
Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings and choose

under
Preferred Networks

Refer to the settings below for the configuration (please note that the Network Name or SSID is
NTUWL in uppercase):

Click on
OK as needed to close all dialog boxes

If your configuration is correctly set, you'll see the following display:

To check the status and quality of your wireless connection, double-click on the Wireless Network Connection

icon on your system tray again. Connection speed of 54Mbps, 48Mbps indicates a good wireless connection on NTUwireless.
The TCP/IP configurations of your computer is also available from the Support tab which should be in the form of:
