Title: Supporting Campus Network

Duration: Two morning sessions (3 hours each)

Pre-requisites: Basic troubleshooting knowledge of network
 
Objectives: To familiarize participant on NTUnet infrastructure and network layout, network configuration of Windows XP clients, network file and print services and network security guidelines and policies

Course Outline:

 
  1. NTUnet Infrastructure and network layout
    - Background and details of the network setup/layout e.g. type of Systems Mix, brief understanding of network modules like switches, bridges, routers, types of services to staff/students, schools/depts and upcoming projects.

  2. Network configuration of Windows XP clients
    - To understand the importance of a correctly configured node on NTU campus.

  3. Network file and print services
    - This module will throw light on the network file and print services sample configuration on Windows 2003 will be demonstrated

  4. Network Security Guidelines and Policies
    - This section will deal with Network security guidelines and policies in NTU

  5. Supporting NTUwireless
    - This section will introduce background and details of the campus wireless network. Configuring of wireless card and problem/troubleshooting steps are also covered.
