Web Browser and Proxy Settings Quick Start Guide 

To use your computer on the campus network for Internet access, you do not have to configure any proxy settings. Default setup of any type of web browsers that come with the web browser installation will allow immediate web surfing after successful installation. 

Note: The supported web browser in NTU is Internet Explorer 6.x or better. Please note some of our e-Services may not work/run on other web browser platforms.



Proxy Settings for Internet Explorer 6.x or better
  1. Open your Internet Explorer. Click on Tools>Internet Options...



  2. Select the Connections tab and click on LAN Settings...

  3. Leave all option box unchecked. 




  4. Click on OK to complete your configuration

Proxy Settings for Mozilla FireFox
  1. Open your FireFox. Click on Tools>Options...



  2. Select the  Network tab and Settings...

  3. Leave the default setup Direct connection to the Internet...:

    as shown below




  4. Click on OK to complete your configuration

Proxy Settings for Netscape Navigator

  1. Open your Netscape Navigator. Click on Tools>Option...



  2. Click Network ->Settings

  3. Leave the default setup settings Direct connection to the Internet:

    as indicated below




  4. Click on OK to complete your configuration.

Proxy Settings for Windows Media Player 

For your Windows Media Player:
  1. Click on Library>Options... and select the Network tab. Leave the default settings.





  2. Highlight HTTP and click on Configure... . Leave the default settings as it is.


   3.  Click on OK to complete your configuration.

RealPlayer or RealOne

RealPlayer or RealOne automatically obtains the proxy settings from your default browser i.e. Internet Explorer or Netscape. No proxy configuration is required from you.

Newsgroup or ISP E-mail

No proxy configuration is required to access your ISP (Internet Service Provider) i.e. SingNet, StarHub, etc. newsgroup or e-mail from the campus network.
