Setting Up Dial-Up for Windows
To dial-up to NTU network, you'll need:
- a laptop or desktop PC
- Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and VISTA
- a standard modem for connection at 56kbps, 33.6kbps or 28.8kbps
- your Network Account
Setup your computer as follows:
- Download the NTURAS Dial-up installation file below. Copy the file to a blank diskette.

- Execute the NTURAS dialup.exe file. Insert your Windows CD if required during the course of the installaton. When installation is completed, reboot your computer.
- Click on the
NTURAS Dial-up Service icon. Next click on Properties.
- Enter the phone number of your choice and click the OK button.

Note: * Alumni using ASSOC Network Account are not allowed access to the Dial-Up service. Above ASSOC account refers to those issued to our industrial partners users.

Click on Connect to start dialing to NTU network.

Setting Up SSL VPN (Virtual Private Network) for Windows/Mac OS/Linux
To VPN to NTU network from the Internet, NTUwireless or EDUWIN, you'll need:
- A laptop or desktop PC
- Internet connection from your ISP (Internet Service Provider) if connecting from home
- Supported OS: Microsoft Windows XP or VISTA or Mac OS X 10.5, 10.4 or Open Suse 11 (32 bit) or Ubuntu 8.10 (32 bit)
- Supported browser: Firefox, IE 7/8 or Safari
- Java 6 installed on Mac OS/Linux/Windows or ActiveX enabled on Windows
Connecting to VPN
- On a web browser (eg Firefox, IE 7/8 or Safari), go to NTU Homepage (URL: www.ntu.edu.sg), click "NTU VPN" under QuickLinks or type ntuvpn.ntu.edu.sg on a Web Browser.
- For first time access:
- A VPN client will be installed and configured automatically on your system after the entered credential is authenticated successfully
- During the installation process, there will be some security prompt, please click "Run" or "Ok" to continue with the installation
- The client will connect to the VPN server automatically after the installation is completed
- For subsequent access, there will be no client installation and VPN will be automatically established after the entered credential is authenticated successfully
- If the client is not installed successfully, please download from following and installed:

Signing Out of VPN
- Click the
icon found on the bottom left corner of the screen and select sign-out or Click "Sign out" on the SSL VPN home web-page.
Setting Up Microsoft-VPN (Virtual Private Network) for Windows
To VPN to NTU network from the Internet, NTUwireless or EDUWIN, you'll need:
- a laptop or desktop PC
- Microsoft Windows 2000, XP or VISTA
- Internet connection from your ISP (Internet Service Provider) if connecting from home
- your Network Account
Setup your computer as follows:
- Download the NTURAS VPN installation file below for your Windows version. Copy the file to a blank diskette.

Internet Explorer Proxy Settings
To access the Internet via web browsing, explicit proxy configuration is not required.
This means that with the default web browser setup that come with a fresh Operating System installation, web surfing is immediate once network connetivity is established.

Click on Tools>Internet Options...
- Select the Connections tab and highlight the remote access profile you'll be configuring. Next click on Settings...

- Leave the default web browser setup intact.
