Check out the following that you'll need to configure to use your PocketPC 2003 on campus.

Campus Wireless LAN Settings To configure your PocketPC 2003 for use on
NTUwireless:
- First check if your PocketPC has been tested to work on NTUwireless before from our list.
- Next you'll need to configure your PocketPC 2003 to use:
a) SSID or Network Name NTUWL (in uppercase)
b) WEP or Data Encryption disabled
c) Infrastructure or Access Point mode
- (The following configuration may differ on your PocketPC 2003. The example shown is screenshot from a HP iPAQ h4150 Pocket PC).
First enable your WLAN on your PDA.

- Click on Start>Settings and then the Connections tab. Click on
Connections.

Choose the
Advanced tab and select
Network Card.

Click
Add New...
Enter
NTUWL (in uppercase) and select
The Internet as shown below:

Next from the
Network Key tab, select
Open and
Disabled as illustrated:

Click
OK when you're done.
- If your setup is successful you'll see the following NTUWL displayed as Connected.

By default, most wireless network adapters are already set to Use server-assigned IP address (show me). The TCP/IP configurations of your PocketPC should be in the form:

Note: Above PocketDHCP utility is a useful tool which can help verify your PocketPC TCP/IP settings and also for troubleshooting. This utility can be downloaded here.

VPN and Pocket Internet Explorer Settings
To use your PocketPC 2003 on the campus wireless network or on EDUWIN for Internet access, you'll need first to have the correct proxy settings and VPN (Virtual Private Network) pre-setup.

Click on
Start>Settings and then the
Connections tab. Click on
Connections.

Choose the
Advanced tab and click
Select Networks.

- Configure your connection settings as shown below. Next click on Edit... for My Work Network.

Select the
VPN tab and click on
New...
-
Create a VPN profile as shown below using
vpngate.ntu.edu.sg. Click
Next when done.

Enter your Network Account and click on
Finish.

Next select the
Proxy Settings tab. Check
This network connects to the Internet.

Click on OK to complete your configuration.

Windows Media Player Settings
Unlike PocketPC 2002, there is no network settings to be configured for Windows Media Player in PocketPC 2003.

RealOne Player Settings
To configure your PocketPC RealOne Player:
- Launch your RealOne Player.

- Click on Options>Preferences and select Network... from the list

- Configure Network Setting as shown i.e 802.11B and 11Mbps.

- Click on OK to complete your configuration.

Signing-In to Wireless LAN
Once you have VPN and proxy settings been properly configured, to access the Internet:

Click on

and select
Connect VPN.
-
When prompted, please use your Network Account to sign in as shown. You may check on
Save password if you're using own/personal PocketPC.

If your sign-in is successful you'll see a timer as shown below displaying your VPN session time.

To access the Internet, simply launch your Pocket Internet Explorer.

To sign-out, click on

and select
Disconnect.
