 1st National Cheerleading Competition 2010

This event, held on 20 March 2010, was organized by the Federation of Cheerleading (Singapore), a newly established organization in collaboration with Singapore Sports Council in replacement of the previous Cheerobics event.   The Guest of Honour was Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth & Sports.

NTU ACES teams (Team Gold and Team Blue) competed in the Open Category which saw keen competitions among the tertiary institutions and teams from the community centres.  A total of 7 teams vied for the top honours, which included an overseas competitive opportunity to represent Singapore in Japan on 15-16 May 2010.
Ulu Pandan Wildcards was the greatest challenger of the day.  The team comprised mainly experienced cheerleaders with competitive background.  The two teams’ performances were so close that judges were unable to break the tie between ACES Gold and Wildcards after two rounds of results deliberation.  In the first of cheerleading competition history, it was declared a joint first for NTU ACES Team Gold and Ulu Pandan Wildcards.  ACES Team Blue came in 2nd runner up.
