The Nanyang Research Programme (Junior Researcher) / NRPjr is targeted at Secondary 3 students in selected MOE Secondary and Year 3 and 4 students in all IP Schools.
It will offer research topics specifically from NTU's College of Engineering, College of Science as well as the National Institute of Education.
Similar to the NRP, participants in NRPjr will undertake research activities under the charge of an NTU Faculty member. The period of research will run from March of their Secondary 3 / Year 3 / Year 4 year, till April of their Secondary 4 / Year 4 / Year 5 year. Similarly, NRPjr will culminate in the NRP Symposium which will be held in April, 12 months after the start of the NRPjr cycle.
NRPjr will require that partner Secondary and IP Schools on the programme appoint a teacher mentor for every successfully placed student pair recommended by the school. Students will be required to work in same school pair groups, and will have to choose one project of their choice and write a short proposal to convince the Supervisor offering the project to select them.
Schools will have to appoint a teacher mentor for every successfully placed NRPjr group recommended by the school. This teacher mentor will be required to work closely with the students and their Supervisor, to closely monitor the progress of his/her students.
Students will be required to draw up a work plan to chart the work tasks to be done through the entire duration of the programme in the form of a Gantt Chart. Students will also be required to submit monthly updates to their teacher mentor charting their meetings with their Supervisor as well as the work done on their project.
