ISC Part-time Employment Scheme (for full-time international graduate students)

Knowing how to manage your funds for your studies at NTU is important. Do work out your budget prior to your arrival in Singapore so you are financially well-prepared for the duration of your studies.

The International Student Centre (ISC) does not recommend that international students rely on part-time work as a source of funds. Doing so is risky as part-time work may not be available when needed nor will it provide sufficient funds.

Students who wish to take up part-time employment for the work experience or for pocket money should note the following:

Prior approval from the university is required for matriculated international students to work part-time. Undergraduates should contact the Student Affairs Office, while graduate students should contact the International Student Centre (isc@ntu.edu.sg). A fresh application is required for each job. Scholarship holders require the additional approval of their sponsors.

Full-time matriculated international undergraduates and graduate students may work a maximum of 16 hours a week during term time and full-time during the vacation. Undergraduates working part-time on campus under the Work Study Scheme may work a maximum of 14 hours a week during term time and nine hours a day or 44 hours a week during the vacation.

International students on exchange or in non-graduating programmes may not engage in any part-time work in Singapore.
