Medical & Insurance schemes

Group Hospitalisation & Surgical Insurance (GHSI)

This plan is only open to and compulsory for all full-time international students and Singapore Permanent Residents.

Falling sick in Singapore can be a drain on finances if the illness requires specialist consultation, hospitalisation or surgery. As an international student you are not eligible for hospitalisation and surgery subsidies. If you don’t have a local insurance policy you are required to pay a cash deposit if you are hospitalised. This is when a scheme like GHSI comes to the rescue.

Eligibility

All full-time international students (non-Singapore citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents) are required to take up the Scheme. Students whose candidatures are subsequently converted to part-time status will not be covered under the Scheme. Students who are Singapore citizens and wish to purchase medical insurance will have to contact the insurance company directly for alternative plans.
