Undergraduate studies at NTU emphasize the importance of practical training. For most programmes, students are required to undergo a period of attachment in organisations, locally or overseas.
The Career & Attachment Office (CAO) work closely with the schools to manage the following attachment programmes:

Industrial Attachment (IA) |
22-week attachment from January to June (main period) or July to December for third year Engineering and Computer Science students. Besides the 22-week Industrial Attachment, students can opt for 10-week Industrial Orientation or 30-week Enhanced Industrial Attachment. |

Industrial Immersion (II) |
10-week attachment from May to July for third year Maritime Studies students. |

Professional Attachment (PA) |
8- or 10-week attachment from May to July for second year Accountancy and Business students. This programme is optional for third year students from School of Humanities and Social Sciences. |

Professional Internship (PI) |
24-week attachment from Jan to June for third year Communication Studies students. |
