Eligibility
Only full time matriculated students of NTU are allowed to participate.
The following categories of students are NOT allowed to register for the Special Terms if the activities coincide with the Special Term classes:
· Students who are on attachment or internship e.g. Industrial Orientation, Industrial Attachment, Professional Attachment and Professional Internship and Enhanced Industrial Attachment / International Research Attachment
· Students who are participating in the overseas summer programmes
· SPMS students who are registered for the SPMS special term research courses i.e. Undergraduate Research Experience
Final years students who will be fulfilling their graduation requirements at the end of S2 AY2011-12 are not allowed to read courses in the Special Terms unless they are completing their last minor course.
Leave During Special Term
As participation in the special term is optional, the University will not issue any supporting document for use to excuse students from any activities or defer their In-Camp Training (ICT).
As the duration of the Special Term is short and the classes conducted are intensive, students are not allowed to apply for Leave of Absence if they are registered for a course.
Students will be required to DECLARE that they will not be away during the Special Term classes or examinations for activities such as In-Camp Training (ICT), attachment programme, sports, holiday, part time employment, etc before they place courses on waitlist.
Course Registration
Students may read up to 2 courses in the 2 special terms combined, subject to availability of vacancies.
Please refer to the Class Schedule before you plan your timetable. You may use the STARS Planner to do so during the following designated periods:
Special Term I : Tue 20 Mar 2012 – Thurs 22 Mar 2012
Special Term II: Fri 23 Mar 2012 – Sun 25 Mar 2012
Each student may place up to 5 choices which can be GER PEs, UEs or a combination of both on the waitlist through STARS. Students who place fewer than 3 choices on the waitlist will be prompted to place at least 3 choices.
Allocation of GER PEs and UEs is by computer balloting, subject to availability of vacancies and priority criteria set by the Schools. Priority will be given to students in their final semester of study with only GER PE/UE requirement to fulfill for graduation at the end of this AY. The courses allocated will be registered for you.
A student who is still registered for a course after the Add/Drop or but did not subsequently sit for the examination will be deemed to have read and failed the course. 'F' will appear on his official transcript.
In order to avoid misunderstanding, students are strongly advised to check their courses registered through STARS (and not EdveNTUre) to ensure that their records are correct.
Special Term Fees
For more information on the fees chargeable and courses that are excluded from the charging of Special Term fees, please click here.
Payment Mode
Existing students will receive an e-bill for the courses they are taking in the special terms. The Office of Finance will bill based on the same payment modes (CPF Education Scheme, Tuition Fee Loan, NTU Study Loan, GIRO, NETS, cheque, cash) used for the main semesters, unless otherwise advised by the students. Payment mode for any balance payment will be indicated on the e-bill. Please contact the Office of Finance at 6790-5060/4616/4619/5053/5824 should you have further enquiries on your e-bill for the special terms.
Note: Scholarships and Mendaki Tertiary Tuition Fees Subsidy are not available for payment of special term fees.
S/U Option & File for Award of Minor
Students may exercise their S/U option for courses registered in the special term. Similarly, final year students who are completing their last minor course in the special term and are due to graduate in AY 2010-11 can apply for award of their minor. For details, please refer to the website: http://www.ntu.edu.sg/Services/Academic/undergraduates/Course%20Registration/Pages/default.aspx
Graduating after Special Term II
Students who are only left with GERPE/UE AU to fulfill in order to graduate at the end of this AY and are reading courses in Special Term II to complete their degree requirements will NOT be able to join the Convocation this year.
