Travel insurance offers financial protection to travellers who are exposed to risks of large medical expenses overseas, personal accident, delay or cancellation of flight, loss or damage to personal items, third-party liability, etc. Hence, students travelling on official trips and exchange programmes that are approved or authorised by NTU will be covered by the University's Group Travel Insurance Scheme for Students. This scheme applies to all full-time matriculated undergraduate and postgraduate students, and will cover official NTU student trips that start on or after 1 June 2019. The programme manager-in-charge of the respective overseas programmes will advise you on the rates payable, where applicable (e.g. for optional programmes or part-time students), based on the region that you are going to and the duration of your trip.

Assistance on Medical and Security Matters
Apart from travel insurance, timely assistance on medical and security matters is also important for people on overseas travel. The University has thus contracted
International SOS (ISOS) to provide emergency assistance to NTU members on official trips or university-sanctioned activities overseas.
Prior to departure, travellers can access a wealth of destination-specific information to help them prepare and plan for the trip. In the event of an emergency during the trip, any NTU members can contact ISOS for immediate assistance. The expenses incurred for the assistance services may be borne by the traveller or claimable from his/her travel insurance, depending on the insurance terms.

Travel Registry System
The University has also put in place a Travel Registry System to capture travel information of staff and students. This would enable the University to respond timely, especially in facilitating communication with the affected members, in the event of an emergency.
Students are required to fill in the declaration form at
https://venus.wis.ntu.edu.sg/otrs/login.aspx prior to their departure. Only students travelling under programmes of Student Affairs Office, Career and Attachment Office and Office of Global Education & Mobility are not required to fill in since their travel information will be transferred directly from the various registration systems of these individual offices.
