The University is connected to the Internet. All the facilities and resources available over the Internet are accessible by everyone on the campus network, even from your home too. To get yourself connected in campus or from home, we recommend the following PC specifications:
- Intel Pentium III processors with 800 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor clock speed.
- 24-bit colour and XVGA (1024 by 768 pixels) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor.
- XP ProfessionalWindows or 2000 Professional.
- 256 Mbytes of RAM (memory) recommended.
- Internet Explorer version 5.5 or better installed.
- a 100Mbps FastEthernet network card if you'll be connecting to the fixed line network.
- a 802.11b/g or Wi-Fi certified wireless network card if you'll be using the wireless network. For the list of recommended wireless network cards, click here.
- a 56Kbps modem if accessing remotely from home using telephone dial-up.
- a 128kbps ISP broadband service preferred if accessing remotely from home using VPN (virtual private network).
The supported desktop operating systems in NTU are Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2000. Support for other non-Windows operating systems like LINUX, MacOS, etc. will be assisted on a best effort basis. For tips on configuring your MacOS 10.x machine for use on campus please click here.
Notes:
- Users still running Windows 95/98/ME or NT may wish to note that the support for these operating systems has been phased out since end July 2005.
