Apply for Tertiary Student Concession Card

As a student of NTU, you can apply for the Tertiary Student concession card. This gives you concessionary travel on SBS Transit & SMRT bus services, (except Express, Jurong Island and Night services) and MRT & LRT train services.

Who can apply?

You can apply for the Tertiary Student concession card, if you are

  • a full-time matriculated student of NTU. Part-time undergraduates or postgraduates (those pursuing Masters or Doctorate programmes) are not eligible for this concession.
  • not currently receiving any allowance from an organisation other than for scholarship or bursary given on the basis of academic achievement or hardship.

How to apply – for matriculated students

  • Go to any of these TransitLink Offices: Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange, Hougang Bus Interchange, Jurong East Bus Interchange, Pasir Ris Bus Interchange, Ang Mo Kio Hub Bus Interchange or Tiong Bahru MRT Station.
  • Bring along your NRIC for verification purposes. If you are not a Singapore citizen or Permanent Resident, then bring along your passport and your Student’s Pass.
  • Bring a passport-size photograph.
  • Pay the $18 application fee. This includes $5 card cost (non-refundable), $3 personalisation fee (non-refundable) and $10 stored value.

How to apply – for freshmen AY 2009/2010

  • From 6 July 2009 to 4 September 2009, freshmen can go down to any TransitLink Ticket Office to apply for the concession card.
  • Bring along your NRIC for verification purposes. If you are not a Singapore citizen or Permanent Resident, then bring along your passport and your Student’s Pass.
  • Bring a passport-size photograph.
  • Pay the $8 application fee.
  • Collect the card from the Student Affairs Office (you will be notified through your NTU email account).
  • Pay the remaining $10 to activate the card.

The above application procedure is applicable during the bulk application exercise from 6 July to 4 September 2009.

Important note:

  1. Freshmen who wish to apply for the concession card after the deadline can only do so after 20 September 2009 at any TransitLink Card Replacement Office. Card could be collected on the spot upon payment of $18.
  2. All freshmen can check on their eligibility status on TransitLink's website, www.transitlink.com.sg, before going down to any TransitLink Ticket Office for card application. Only students with eligibility status reflected as 'eligible' can start applying for their concession card.
  3. Freshmen who had applied for more than one tertiary institutions are advised to apply for their concession card AFTER they have matriculated at their confirmed choice of tertiary institution.
  4. The location and operating hours of TransitLink Ticket Office and Card Replacement Office can be found at www.transitlink.com.sg

If you’ve lost your card

If you’ve lost your concession card, you can apply for a replacement.

There are 2 ways to apply for the replacement.

Via the TransitLink Offices. Go down to any of these offices to apply for your replacement: Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange, Hougang Bus Interchange, Jurong East Bus Interchange, Pasir Ris Bus Interchange, Ang Mo Kio Hub Bus Interchange or Tiong Bahru MRT Station. These offices are open Monday-Sunday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. (Closed on Public Holidays).

Via mail

  • Download the application form TransitLink.com.sg website.
  • Mail-in the completed application form along with the $18 in fees.
  • The new card will arrive in 3 working days.
  • The cards can also be collected at these places: Ang Mo Kio MRT Station, City Hall MRT Station, Woodlands MRT Station , Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange, Jurong East Bus Interchange, Tampines Bus Interchange and Yishun Bus Interchange.

If you're extending your study and need to extend the concessionary eligibility

You are required to send the request via email to chng@ntu.edu.sg at least 10 working days before the expiry date of your existing concessionary eligibility period with the following details:

  • Name as stated on your Tertiary Student concession card
  • NRIC Number/FIN Number/Passport Number as reflected on your Tertiary Student concession card
  • Expected date (DD/MM/YY) for completion of your study

The processing time for the extension will take about 7 to 10 working days. You will be notified via email on the date to activate the extension for your concessionary eligibility period.
