In order to meet the demands of training government leaders in China, NTU started to offer MME and MPA programmes separately in 1998 and 2005. This two master’s programmes, mentioned as “Mayors’ Class” by the media, were strongly supported by the Singapore and china governments and well received by China government officials. This year NTU welcome the biggest batch of 142 high-rank government officials to its Mayors’ Class.
On 30 March 2009, a grand opening ceremony was held with Mr Lim Swee Say, the Minister of Prime Minister’s Office as the guest-of-honor. Madam Zhou Jianping, the Education Counselor from China Embassy in Singapore and top executives from Capitaland, Angro, Tan Chin Tuan Foundation and other enterprises.
