Important Notices

Important Notice to Current Sociology Students, 2007–2008

We would like to welcome all of you – newcomers as well as old hands – to the Division of Sociology’s offerings for the academic year 2007–2008.

The requirements for the Sociology Prescribed Electives have been amended in one respect. At least five of the required 12 Prescribed Electives are to be taken at the 300-level or higher. This is to ensure that all Sociology Majors will have in-depth understanding of the field.

Moreover, you are encouraged to complete most of your 200-level core modules before taking 300-level modules. Since the latter build on the former, your professors will usually teach on the basis that you have done this.

Prerequisite modules should be taken before you take the module in question, not during the same semester. Here is an update of the other amendments in the curriculum.
