The School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is home to six divisions: Chinese, Economics, English, Linguistics and Multilingual Studies, Psychology and Sociology, and also Politics and Public Administration. The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is offered by all, and five Divisions offer Master of Arts (MA) by research.
Candidates pursuing graduate degrees by research work closely with their supervisors toward a thesis on an approved topic and also take courses. The research programme can be pursued on a full-time or part-time basis. Full-time candidates with good results may be offered research scholarships.

Admission Requirements
For Masters' programmes, a good Honours degree or equivalent is required. For PhD studies, a Master's degree is preferred. Applicants are required to have GRE except for those applying for admission to Division of Chinese. Applicants from non-English speaking countries will be required to take TOEFL. In addition, different divisions may have specific requirements. Details are available at the Divisions' websites.
