Currently there are two annual awards to the Chinese major students. They are:

1. Wan Boo Sow Awards for Chinese Major Students: It is a scholarship established by the family of the late Mr. Wan Boo Sow. Like many early generation Singaporeans, Mr. Wan came from a family of poor migrants. But through his hard work, self-reliance and an entrepreneurial spirit, he had prospered in business. He had great pride in the development of Singapore. Mr. Wan sometimes struggled with his own formal education, but he always believed in striving for excellence in one's endeavours and in the importance of education for a better society. As such, his family has decided to donate $75,000 in his name to establish the Awards for Chinese major students of the Division of Chinese of Nanyang Technological University. Together with the Government's 1-1 matching of $75,000, the endowment fund would be worth $150,000 by the year 2010. Interests generated by this fund would be used annually and for perpetuity to award seven prizes, ranging from $250 to $1000, to outstanding undergraduate students pursuing the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Chinese.
   
   
2. Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal: This award is established by the University Endowment Fund open to the students majoring in Chinese and in other 14 different subjects. The fund in perpetuity is used annually to award fifteen prizes, $1,000 each, to those students who are the first in general proficiency throughout the course of study in the respective degree programme and who have obtained a First Class Honours degree.
