BG(NS) Tan Meng Dui

BG(NS) Tan Meng Dui is the Deputy Secretary (Development) of the Ministry of National Development (MND). He oversees the Ministry’s Housing, Research & Strategy Management (RSM), Corporate Communications and Corporate Development Divisions. In the area of Housing, he is responsible for formulating and implementing housing policies to address the needs of different segments of Singapore’s population. He also guides the RSM division in their economic and social research, and in charting the strategic direction for the Ministry. He is also responsible for strengthening the HR, Finance, IT and Corporate Communications systems at the Ministry HQ and its statutory boards, including the risk management, crisis management and emergency planning functions.
BG(NS) Tan joined the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in 1986 and served in several key appointments in the SAF and Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), before retiring from regular military service as a Brigadier General in 2011. Before assuming his current appointment in MND, he held the appointments of Deputy Secretary (Technology) in MINDEF and Director of Military Intelligence in the SAF.
BG(NS) Tan graduated from the Imperial College London with a Bachelor of Science (1st Class Honours) in Mathematics. He has a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University, and attended the Advanced Management Programme at the Wharton School, University of Pennslyvania.
BG(NS) Tan is an Administrative Service officer in the Singapore Public Service. He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) (Military) in 2006. He sits on the boards of the Media Development Authority (MDA) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Board of Trustees. He is married with three children.
